Spain is hoping to welcome tourists from Ireland and elsewhere back as early as March 2021.

The country’s national tourism agency is launching a new ‘Travel Safe’ campaign which aims to encourage visitors to return for holidays, while giving them all of the latest information.

The idea is that there will be a dedicated section on the  spain.info  website which will include information ranging from local restrictions to what restaurant capacity is like.

The section will include an interactive map of Spain where tourists can find the details, whether they’re after a beach holiday, city break or a countryside escape.

The campaign is estimated to be costing in the region of €2million and is expected to run for as long as there are coronavirus prevention measures.

Balearic tourism minister, Iago Negueruela, told local media that they would be looking to welcome visitors back from the end of March. He added that “first of all, however, there is the task of positioning, selling and explaining to the world that the islands are a safe destination”.

Reyes Maroto, Spain’s Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, said that he hoped the plan would succeed in “generating confidence among tourists to come to our country again.”
